Stocks that beat RSP: Method & Watchlist

Stocks that beat RSP: Method & Watchlist
Want to identify winners faster after a market correction?
Instead of betting on sector rotations, you're better off looking at the charts.
In this analysis we use RSP (equal-weighted S&P 500) as a reference,
We build a search filter in TransTrader and refine the results with Aroon-20.
This leaves you with a manageable list of stocks that consistently beat RSP — ready to follow.
After the recent correction, we see a strong rebound in the indices.
That raises the question: is capital moving away from technology and into value? Possibly.
But if interest rates fall, money might as well flow back into growth.
Rather than speculating, we stick to a tried and tested principle:
look at the graphStrong charts push the index forward.
For this analysis we take the Invesco Equal Weighted S&P 500 ETF (RSP) for reference.
We first determine the tipping points, then systematically search for outperformers
and refine into a compact watchlist.
Method
1) Determine tipping points
We focus on three critical points of the past year: soil October 27,
bottom April 18 and peak July 16.
These benchmarks provide the framework for measuring who is truly beating RSP.

RSP chart with bottoms (27/10, 18/4) and tops (16/7) as measurement points.
2) Find outperformers
With TransTrader we build a search that selects stocks that RSP
outperform over three windows:
- Oct 2023 → Jul 2024
- Apr 2024 → Jul 2024
- July 2024 → today

Search conditions in TransTrader to identify RSP outperformers.
3) Analyze results
The search returns 49 S&P 500 stocks on that in all windows
outperformed RSP — an ideal starting list to monitor, without drowning in hundreds of tickers.

Compact watchlist: 49 S&P 500 stocks that consistently beat RSP.
Further refinement with Aroon-20
We add achievements since the tipping dates and use Aroon 20
as a momentum filter (July 16 → now is ~21 days). This allows us to distinguish strong trends from potential breakouts.

Screening with performance per window + Aroon-20 for trend strength.
Signaling: Momentum & Possible Breakout
High momentum: look for Aroon+ = 100 and Aroon− = 0 (e.g. UHS, WELL) — indicates strong uptrends.
Edge of breakout: Aroon+ = 100 with relatively high Aroon− (e.g. FIS, DVA) — can breakout to the upside.
Even at the bottom of the list there are candidates: if a stock is trading only ~1–2% below the top,
can that show resilience (e.g. GEV).

High momentum examples: Aroon+ 100 / Aroon− 0.

Breakout Candidates: Aroon+ 100 with higher Aroon−.
